WANDERLUST
NORTH ROCKS, NSW
Set in the leafy hills of North Rocks, NSW, a suburb reputed as the flagship portfolio of the modernist 'Canberra' house, designed by architect Michael Dysart in the early 1970s.
These distinctive designs, with high, asymmetrical ceilings, celebrate the natural landscape with an open-plan, split-level interior layout and a playful combination of clerestory and thin vertical windows.
The home has been lived in by its original owner since 1976, who has since retired and is steadily adding to their list of 40-plus countries travelled so far.
With pieces from Denmark, Sweden, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, China, Indonesia, and Japan, we wanted to create hero moments where detail and texture were balanced with breathing room and each item could have pride of place.
